As summer comes to a close and the kids go back to school, we here at SparkPost like to wrap up the season with a company picnic. It’s a great time to connect with coworkers and their families, bask in the last of the heatwaves, and reenergize for the second half of the year.
This August, the Columbia office joined George Schlossnagle and family at his beautiful, historic home in Baltimore County. The picturesque scene up the long and winding driveway was nothing short of jaw-dropping. The aqua blue pond and field of alpaca and goats were the perfect backdrop for a day of fun in the sun.
Every Marylander knows crab feasts are a must have summer tradition, and believe me, there were plenty of crabs to go around! Our Admin Assistant, Cassie, and I teamed up for a few friendly rounds of cornhole against our software engineers. Kids ran around enjoying the bouncy house, face painter, and carnival games while coworkers and friends cracked a few cold ones to chat about vacations and life outside of work. Although people and ice cream cones were melting from the heat, a good time was had by all.
One of the things I love about working at SparkPost are the celebrations of accomplishments, no matter how big or small. The summer picnics, fun days, and holiday parties certainly make the “thank yous” shine bright. But, the day-to-day recognitions of hard work are what really matter. Our managers and employees take pride in our company mission and really live up to the values that have we’ve established. A picnic is always a welcomed gesture of appreciation, but knowing that your manager believes in you and appreciates your hard work is all the more rewarding.
If you want to become a part of the wonderful SparkPost team and join us for next year’s summer picnic, be sure to check out our open positions!
